Spring Star Dust

Morning Peeps,

God where does the weekend go. My mojo is still missing in action although I have acomplished two cards this weekend, this being one of them, I hope it returns soon though. I do seem to have the spring fever and want to sort out my craftroom, so this confirms there is something definitely wrong with me, lol.  I'm blaming Elaine, she's had a good sort out and there's a place for everything, so here goes.  Speaking of Elaine, be sure to check out the Simply Sassy Inspiration Blog tomorrow as the fabby Elaine is in the spotlight, woo hoo.

My daughter suggested colouring  Star Dust in yellow, which I have to admit is a colour I never do, so I have gone with it, and to be honest I am still not sure. Yellow just isn't me although I see alot of beautiful creations out there, perhaps it will grow on me.

I have followed the sketch over at the Sugar Bowl, with the option of Spring, and I deinitely think these are spring colours.

The papers were a gift from the fabuluous Elaine, thank you hun.   I have glitzed her blow with star dust stickles and added very sparkly glamour dust to all the stardust falling out of her hand and onto the floor, in fact I am still wearing them myself, I always end up covered, lol.

I have coloured her with copics and a few prisma pencils.

Kiddies Time at Make It Colourful

Morning Peeps,

I don't personally have a card for you today, but I know a girl who does, lol.  Over at Make It Colourful today Zoe is having a Kiddies challenge with the theme as PINK, so the young children of the DT have been busy creating using all their Mum's stash.  Now I'd be lucky if I managed to get my daughter to colour with me at 19, she isn't too impressed with my obsessiion for paper and colouring pens, but I do have a niece who I have inspired to become involved in this crafting malarky.  Chelsea, is soooo excited to make a card for the challenge post and so into her crafting that I have created her own blog so she can comment on the children's entries and post her creations.  So here is Chelsea, Aged 10, card:-

As she is a new blogger with only me, herself and her mum following her, I know she would be absolutely thrilled if you could pop over and leave her some of that lovely crafters love on her card.  So without further ado hop on over to "Chelsea's Card Haven" HERE.

Have a good weekend Peeps.

In Love with Vintage

Hiya Peeps,

You know I love Friday's, don't we all, but today I get to show you my Art Deco Vintage card, which I am absolutely in love with.  I was asked to make an Anniversary card using Art Deco and thankfully I have this fabulous stamp available from Crafts and Me HERE.  I am falling in love with this style of stamp.  They are currently out of stock but I know Teresa is expecting more in soon, so if you want them email Teresa, details are on the Crafts and Me Blog or Store, and get yours reserved as these stamps are in demand.

I actually don't want to give this card away, lol.  Lots of gorgeous details, I may have gone overboard with the embellishments, but I do love the end result.

The middle section is corrugated card stripped of the top layer and painted with some acrylic white paint. I added some lace and purple ric rac.

I have added two little charms a key with the word LOVE and the heart with the lock.

I have painted the heart swirl with a lilac acrylic paint and edged it with Tim Holtz Distress ink.

Ahhhh look at that incy wincy postcard.  I had this sheet for a few years and I finally found a use for it.  The double heart is again painted with acrylic paint and edged with Tim Holtz Distress ink.

A close up of the laserchip word LOVE painted with lilac acrylic paint and edged with distress ink.

These labels are fab and are available as clip art from the graphics fairy. (This would look better to the right of the labels but I can't get the text there, any advice gratefully received).

An this is the inside.

First Christmas Card of 2011

Hi Peeps,

Hope you all had a fab weekend.  My mojo is still missing so this is the only card I did over the weekend, so now I have a lot of catching up to do during the week, but i don't know about you girls but my craft room looks like a bomb has dropped in it and I really need a good couple of weeks having a good sort out and making it organised and tidy.  Mind you, when I tidy up and then craft I can never find anything and find it totally frustrating.  I am pleased to say that the rest of the house is nothing like my craftroom, thank goodness, lol!

Today's card is for the Simply Sassy Inspiration Blog and I have used the gorgeous "Tammy" , and this is my  first christmas card of 2011, woo hooooo.  I did promise myself that I would be more organised this year and start early so I am really proud of myself.  Although I think Tammy has many uses other than just christmas.

My colour choice has been guided by my papers, which are all digital, and available from Bearly Mine.  These are all from the Winter Swirls set, aren't they gorgeous.

Panels have been machine stitched with zig zag stitching.  I added the little "Let it snow sentiment" to the snow at the bottom of the page.

I cut out the image and snowman so that I could position them on the page.  I have added star dust stickles to the snowman as I do like a sparkly snowman.  I have used paint puff on Tammys bobble on her hat and pom poms on her scarf and heated this with my heat gun to make it puffy.

Lots of texute on this card.  I have cut out snowflakes using spellbinders and a Martha Stewart punch in cardstock and accetate and added Twinkles Diamond Dust to the accetate snowflakes.  Love these.  They look like tiny crystals and really resemble snowfalkes.

I have stamped out the sentiment and then stamped with a versamark pad all over the cardstock and then added transparent embossing powder so the sentiment sparkles tremendously and kind of has a hint of lilac when catching the light, guess that's because its irridescent, lol.  I was going to start this post saying this was a simple card for me but I have used several techniques, but they all add to the overall feel of the card I think.

So put it altogether and this is what you get:-

And below are the copics I used.

Shrink Plastic Tutorial

Morning Peeps,

Now I know everyone has started off by saying how nervous they are doing tutorials, and I'm no exception, so take it easy on me.

I thought I'd show you how I stamp with shrink plastic.  You should always use stazon ink when stamping on shiny or slippery surfaces so this is a must for shrink plastic.

Above is what you will need. StazOn ink, your stamp, some shrink plastic, hole punch if fixing as a charm, file and your heat gun and of course whatever colouring medium you are using. I have previously used copics, chalks and pencils. I have also shrunk it without using colours and added different colour glitters, which worked well with shrunk christmas baubles. Will you look at my heat gun, I decided it looked boring in white so I added some alcohol ink to make it more exciting. Although it's starting to wear off on the handle, that's down to how much I use it, lol.

Using your StazOn ink stamp your image onto the shrink plastic

Cut the image out or into the shape you require.  I then flipped over to the back and gave it a little file.  This just helps the colour medium grip onto the surface, so on the back where you file is where you will colour.

I wanted my shrinkie to match my main image of the card.  When you heat the shrink plastic the heat intensifies the colour so you can see here I have had to colour the shrink plastic a few shades lighter.  I used copics and prismas to colour.

I am going to add her as a charm so if you are doing this don't forget to punch a hole somewhere so you can add your jump ring to afix to your chain.

I used some tweezers to try and keep her on the mat as once you start the heatgun if your image is small it may want to blow away.

Move the heat gun around and you will notice that your image will curl up.  This is correct.  It will probably curl right up into a ball and then it will then start to uncurl.

As soon as it straightens again I usually put something heavy onto it to make it completely flat as it cools very quickly and becomes hard and you don't want a banana shaped image, well I don't think you do, lol.  I used my acrylic block, but it could be whatever you have handy, a wooden stamp etc.

I know my photo is a little organey, please tell my husband I neet an ott light or daylight saving lamp, lol.  Anyhow you can now see that after heating the colour intensified and it now matches my main image.

And here's a reminder of the finished card, Skater Girl and mini Skater Girl.

I hope this tutorial has been of help.

See you Saturday.
