Colouring the wood of a Tree

Hi Copic Friends,

I have chosen today to show you how I colour the wood of a tree.  I have aimed this at beginners and am using the Make It Crafty Tree image which already has some of the shading area highlighted for you.  As I prepared this tutorial I had selected E29, E25 and E53, but you will notice as we go through the tutorial that I added E50 to the mix.

I am going to colour in sections.  This will give the tree some depth.  If I was to start and use 3 colours directly across then the image would look very flat.

Start by using your darkest colour E29.  The darkest areas will be at the bottom of the tree, directly underneath where the branches/leaves are and underneath the branches, as indicated by the arrows in the below picture.

Blend out the E29 with E25.  This doesn't have to be neat.  Trees have varying grades of colour and broken lines.

Blend out the E25 with E53, this is a lovely golden colour.

Repeat the process for the second segment.

By the time I got to the middle is when I decided to add some E50.

And this is the finished Wood of the Tree.

Once you have practiced you can apply this principal to any tree, even if it doesn't have the shading areas identified for you.

Rosie and Felix

Hi Peeps,

Hope you all had a fab weekend.  I went out on my bike on Saturday and Hubby had planned a route which he told me was relatively flat, how wrong was heeeeeeeeeeeee. I was seiously doubting whether I could continue after about 15 miles of more ups than downs.  My bottom was in excrutiating pain along with my poor knees.  My legs were tired but I found the strength to carry on, but if I had been anywhere near home that's where I would of headed.  We did accomplish 33 miles, so I am really pleased with that but each time I sit or climb the stairs I am reminded of what I was doing on Saturday, only a couple more weeks and all my pain with be behind me........

Just to let you know that BunnyZoe is sponsoring Partytime Tuesday this week and the theme is an easy one, "Anything Goes", so if you'd like to win some goodies from BunnyZoe join in the challenge HERE.  I have joined in and created this card using Whimsy Stamps Rose and Felix.  The stamp design is by Sylvia Vet, beautiful stamps.

I have coloured the image with distress inks.

I have used Cosmo Cricket Evangeline 6 x 6 paper pad, they are all gorgeous.
Here's a close up of the gorgeous Rose and Felix.

I have used one of the new prima wooden buttons, they are fabulous and just hanging from the button is a bird cage charm, both available from BunnyZoe.

And here's a pic of the little tag taken out of the card and attacked with white Gesso.

Fabulous Flowers at Crafts and Me

Morning Peeps,

It's time again for the rubber girls to strutt their stuff over at Crafts and Me and the theme this week is Fabulous Flowers.  I have used the newly released Joanna Prosvirina Foxglove image, and with a mixed media of copics, polychromo pencils and distress ink water colouring for the soft background.

The paper is digital and is also available from Crafts and Me HERE. The doily is a Tim Holtz off the edge die and on the lefthand side I have used a Memory Box Catalina Border Die, as is the beautiful Vivienne Butterfly.

The bouquet of flowers is from WOC and I have added my favourite Marianne Design Branch Forest  LR0150 and again another one of the new  Marianne Designs Anja Leaves 3 LR0228 , I did say I have a thing for leaf dies, lol.

I shamefully have to admit to not posting my last Crafts and Me DT card, Oops..... but it does also fit the Fabulous Flowers theme.  The image is Pansy Sisters and I have coloured on Murano pastel paper with polychromo pencils.

I'll be back again tomorrow, and it will be my Birthday.........and your last chance to enter my candy.

Annabelle

Hi Peeps,

I have a special card for you today, one that was published in the May edition of Papers and Pixels.  Boss Lady Zoe was asked to do an article and a few of us MIC girls offered to do a card to accompany the article and this is the card that  I came up with.

The image is Annabelle available in Rubber and Digital from Make It Crafty.

I have coloured Annabelle using Copic Markers.

I have used the manikin from the Make It Crafty Sew It Up chipboard embellishments

A close up of Annabelle.

You will also notice the cogs, these are from the Make It Crafty Gears Galore Chipboard Embellishments, and painted with an olive acrylic paint and my usual dab of snowtex.

You may also notice on the front panel the Make It Crafty Corner Flourishes, again painted with white acrylic paint.

And gripping both sides of the main panels I have used the Fine Swirl vine which is from the Make It Crafty Fine Swirls Chipboard Embellishment pack.

Watching It Fly

Hi Peeps,

Oh my goodness, my bottom is killing me. I managed to get out on my bike last night again and accomplished 19 miles, but not sure my bottom can get back on a bike this side of Christmas.  I seem to have injured my knee somehow, not sure how though, so I will give it a rest for a couple of days and see how it goes. If you haven't yet and you'd still like to support me click on the link below.
