Morning,
Firstly if you live in the UK, what is going on???? It's nearly April and we are a few inches deep in snow and it's freezing. I've never seen a March like it.
It's a new week at Live and Love Crafts and a new theme, and I think you are all going to have a laugh along the way, but I first have to report some cruelty behind the scenes. We all love Sandy but this week she has targeted us all to re-do a card that we made a long time ago, as far back as you can go. We have all been cringing at the thought and I was hoping I wouldn't be able to find the stamps, but I'm honest and I did so I am here today under duress, lol. Seriously, we still love you Sandy and thank you for making us do this, even though I am still cringing and daren't open my laptop today, it is actually good to go back and re-create a card you made before to see how far you have come, and to all those emails that I respond to about my colouring, I always say practice, practice, practice and hopefully you will see the difference.
So here it is the THEN and the NOW side by side. This happens to be my very first card that I made using a coloured image and my very first colouring. It dates back to January 2009. I think it's fair to say that I have always liked flowers but my love for embellishments has definitely grown, lol.
They have both been coloured using distress inks for a direct comparison and on NOW card I have used PionDesign Lily of the Valley 12x12 paper and you will notice a little shabby white frantage around the edges of the image, hehe, love this stuff. The lace at the bottom is just beautiful.
A little Angel resting on the bark heart, cute.
I have used the little present charm with the words, "for you", perfect for this card. The snowflakes were cut out with accetate and dipped into diamond dust.
A cascade of flowers consisting of KortandGodt Berries, Gardenia, Flower sprays, white poppies and Chrysanthemums all with a dusting of Gesso.
Enjoy the rest of the week everyone, I can sit back now mine's done and see what the rest of the girl's have re-created starting with Tina tomorrow, so be sure to check back, it will be awesome!
Hugs Tracy x

Hvor er du god til at sætte et kort sammen, det er så smukt og fuld af overraskendene pynt. knus morkaren.
ReplyDeleteWell I dunno, Tracy. Your new card is magnificent. I love this sooty feel you are achieving with the smoky colouring around your image. It really lends itself to the overall vintage effect and makes your image pop. Your colourwork has improved of course but it was very good before. And your marvellous decorations in the new version and just that...marvellous. BUT your old card is really lovely too. The photography is not showing it off to it's best but your design and embellishment are really pretty and if I made the old card today, I would be very pleased with it. My current cards are as nice as your old one, Tracy, and if I dug out one of my old cards it would have you rolling in the aisles!!! Hugs, Lesley
ReplyDeleteWow, isn't it great to look back and see what has changed with your work. The first card was beautiful but the second is gorgeous! Love all the embellishments, such a feast for the eyes xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards. The second is Gorgeous.

Oh, this looks like a FUN idea! Your post made me laugh at how mortified you are to show it hahaha! I say it just shows how much you have grown! To tell you the truth I think the first one is adorable, but since I loooove all the foo foo embellishments, I am in love with the second. The toned down colors look super fab! Tracy you are awesome!

ReplyDeleteWow, this is just stunning.
ReplyDeleteYikes! These kind of challenges are definitely scary! I can see that you have definitely increased the amounts of embellies you like to use and it really creates a stunning card. Though I do have to agree with most of the other commenters and say that there is nothing mortifiying about the first card. : ) Anyway, thanks for playing with CSAYL.
ReplyDeleteWell you sure learned a lot in those three years :D! The first card is pretty, the second card just stunning :D!! It's fun to see how much you can grow into something :)
ReplyDeleteLove,
Cin
It's so fun to look back and see how much we have learned and how we develop our style! Thanks for sharing! I had some laughs looking threw my first cards, and I was so happy with them when I first made them..lol. Your card from three years ago looks so much better than mine did at the time...lol. I think it is pretty, but your latest one is just gorgeous! Wishing you a happy easter, Tracy! Hugs, Elizabeth x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work. Frantage? How do you get your defined speckled dotty edge around your coloured image? Not familiar with frantage technique, when I emboss colour melts together more like a swipe than speckled?
ReplyDeleteThanks any info would be fab.
Really, really wonderful cards!!!! Gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
What an incredible card, Tracy! My eyes were dancing all over, trying to discover every little tidbit - and the little resting angel is an adorable addition. So pretty with all the art supplies, embellies, and fabulous shading!
ReplyDeleteStunning card with so much attention to detail! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful creation with us at the Charisma Cardz challenge this week.
